Onward Education is partnering with a school district in Indianapolis, Indiana to hire Special Education Teachers for the 2026/2027 school year. These are on-site opportunities supporting students across specialized programs.
Additional Role Details (current openings)
1.Life Skills SPED Teacher (K-2)
- Location: Onsite
- Schedule: Approx. 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
- Credential note: Moderate intervention license endorsement (SPED) needed
2.Multilingual Learner SPED Teacher (Middle School)
- Location: Onsite
- Schedule: Approx. 8:15 AM-3:00 PM
Job Summary
The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized and small-group instruction, collaborate with general education staff and service providers, and support IEP implementation to ensure students can access learning in the least restrictive environment. Settings may include inclusion/co-taught classrooms, resource support, or specialized programs (e.g., life skills).
Position Details:
- Location: On-site
- Hours: 37.5 hours/week
- Pay: $49.50-$52.50
- Schedule: School-based hours
- School Year: 2026/2027
- Start: Immediately
Responsibilities:
- Provide specially designed instruction aligned to IEP goals in small-group and/or classroom settings.
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior/support plans as required.
- Collaborate with general education teachers (including co-teaching where applicable) to support access to the general curriculum.
- Monitor student progress and maintain compliant documentation (data collection, service logs, progress reports).
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development, progress updates, and instructional planning.
- Communicate proactively with families and school teams to support student growth and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Active Indiana Special Education teaching credential (required).
- Moderate intervention endorsement / appropriate SPED endorsement for assignment (required for the K-2 Life Skills opening).
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs (resource, inclusion, and/or self-contained settings).
- Strong knowledge of IEP implementation, progress monitoring, and compliance practices.
- Collaborative, student-centered approach with clear communication and strong classroom management skills.
