Onward Search Education is partnering with a school district in Lawrence County, Indiana to hire a Special Education Teacher - Self-Contained (Intense Intervention), Middle School for the 2026/2027 school year. This role supports a self-contained Intense Intervention classroom serving students in grades 6-8, with a small caseload and a strong focus on individualized instruction and classroom-based supports.
Position Details:
- Position: Self-Contained (Intense Intervention), Middle School (Grades 6-8)
- Location: On-site
- Hours: 37.5 hours/week
- Schedule: 7:40 AM - 3:20 PM
- Pay: $49.50 - $52.50/ hour
Job Summary
In this role, you'll lead a self-contained Intense Intervention classroom by delivering specialized instruction, implementing IEPs with fidelity, managing classroom routines and behavior supports, and collaborating closely with district/school teams to ensure students receive the services, accommodations, and modifications they need to grow academically, behaviorally, and socially.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, specialized instruction aligned to IEP goals for students in a self-contained Intense Intervention setting.
- Develop, implement, and progress-monitor IEPs; collect and maintain compliant documentation and data.
- Create and maintain a structured classroom environment that supports learning, routines, and positive behavior.
- Differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum materials to meet a wide range of learner needs.
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Participate in meetings (IEP conferences, team meetings) and communicate student progress clearly and consistently.
Qualifications:
- Indiana Special Education License (required)
- Intense Intervention endorsement (required)
- Experience supporting middle school learners (grades 6-8) in higher-support or self-contained settings strongly preferred
- Strong classroom management, data collection, and IEP implementation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with families professionally
