We're partnering with a school district in Cook County, IL to hire a dedicated Paraprofessional to support students with special education and behavioral needs in a structured, in-person educational setting during the 2026-2027 school year.

This full-time opportunity provides classroom support within specialized elementary programs, including an EC Self-Contained Classroom and a K-2 Structured Teaching Room. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally while working closely with teachers and support staff.

Position Details

• Location: Onsite in Cook County, IL
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:45 AM - 3:15 PM
• School Year: 2026-2027
• Weekly Hours: 30+ hours per week
• Setting: Classroom Support
• Student Population:
  • EC Self-Contained Classroom (currently 4 students)
  • K-2 Structured Teaching Room (currently 5 students)

Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom support to students with academic, behavioral, sensory, and communication needs.
• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing instructional activities, accommodations, and behavior support strategies.
• Support students in the EC Self-Contained and K-2 Structured Teaching programs throughout the school day.
• Implement individualized strategies to address student learning, behavioral, and social-emotional goals.
• Promote positive behavior, student engagement, independence, and participation in classroom activities.
• Assist with data collection and documentation related to student progress and behavioral interventions.
• Support students during transitions, small-group activities, and daily routines.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure consistent implementation of student supports.

Qualifications:

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with paraprofessional endorsement, or Illinois Substitute License required
• Previous experience working in special education, behavioral support, or classroom support roles preferred
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented educational environment
• Passion for supporting students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
